School Discussions on Social Media

Preventing cyberbullying is one of the most important responsibilities a school district is tasked with handling. Protecting our children from a toxic online environment is a 24/7 job, both inside and outside of school. But as has been pointed out in recent weeks, cyberbullying is not limited to students. The previous two issues of the Tribune featured Letters to the Editor discussing posts made on Livingston Education!, a private Facebook group featuring more than 2,000 members. In one, a Board of Education member said she was being cyberbullied on the page by parents, who she said were critiquing her appearance. In response, a member of the group said the comments made were not, in fact, cyberbullying.
