Lee V. (Grasso) Adamski, wife of the late Joseph Adamski of Livingston, New Jersey, passed away at home October 12. She was born Pasqualina Veronica Grasso on January 17, 1925, to Nicola and Rose (Lardieri) Grasso of Newark, New Jersey. In addition to her husband, Joseph, she was preceded in death by her parents and six siblings: Joseph, Marie, Carmen, Julia, Victor, and Armando. She is survived by her daughters, Beverly and her husband Anthony Nardiello of West Orange, New Jersey; and Debra and her husband, James O’Neill, of Midlothian, Virginia; five grandchildren, Nicole Munoz (Albert), Dr. Megan O’Neill, Lisa Nanartowicz (Joseph), Matthew O’Neill (Sydney), and Anthony Nardiello III (Nicole); and six greatgrandchildren. She will also be remembered by her numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family and dear friends. Lee was graduated from Central High School in Newark, New Jersey, and began her secretarial career with the law firm Frenetical & LaMorte. She married her childhood sweetheart, World War II Purple Heart recipient Joe Adamski, and settled in East Orange, New Jersey. In 1959, Lee accompanied Nicolas T. Fernicola, Esq. to the Essex County Counsel’s office as his executive secretary and remained as Executive Secretary to four additional Essex County Counsels, retiring in 1986. In this role, she was awarded Legal Secretary of the Year honors by the Essex County Secretarial Association in 1981. Additionally, Lee served as secretary to the Essex County Credit Union for many years. Throughout her life, Lee was a leader in her community, serving as a first female PTO president at both Columbian Elementary School and Clifford J. Scott High School, both in East Orange, New Jersey. She was an active member of the Essex County Democratic Committee, serving as an Electee in East Orange, and remained active after moving to Livingston in 1971. In Livingston, Lee was active in the following organizations: “The Livingtones” town chorus; the Friends of the Opera; the VFW Post 2856 and its Ladies’ Auxiliary; the American Legion Post 201 and its Ladies’ Auxiliary; the Oak Leaf Senior Women’s Club; the Livingston AARP; Livingston UNICO, the Livingston Elks and Does; and St. Philomena Church. She enjoyed pinochle, bowling and bocce through the Livingston Senior Center. Lee was devoted to her family. She was mentor and confidant to her large extended family and willingly and gracefully shared her wisdom, generosity, kindness and knowledge.
