Joseph Thomas Vitello

Joseph Thomas Vitello, “Joey V,” 52, of Brick passed away on Wednesday, June 12, 2019, with his wife by his side. Joseph fought a year-long battle with brain cancer like a true champion. Born in Newark, NJ, on July 23, 1966, Joseph lived in Union before moving to Brick, NJ. Joey was a talented professional drummer, an inspiring drum teacher to many amazing students, as well as the proud owner of Andy’s Family Music in Livingston, NJ. His love for the Giants, the Rangers and the New York Yankees was shown on every t-shirt or hat he wore so proudly. Joseph was preceded in death by his mother, Marie Vitello; his grandparents; and many cousins. He is survived by his devoted wife of almost ten years, Rosana (Vassallo) Vitello; his loving father, whom Joey adored so very much, Joseph Vitello of Union, NJ; his loving brother, Salvatore Vitello and his wife, Lori, of Bridgewater; his nephews, Salvatore and Joseph; his stepson, Michael Faro ofAustin, TX and his stepdaughter, Katie and her husband, Joe Schaefer, of Point Pleasant, NJ; his step-granddaughter, Jessica and grandson, who lit up his life, Joseph Schaefer; his “best bud,” his dog Toby; his two brothers-in-law and three sistersin-law; many nieces and nephews on his wife’s side; as well as all his loving friends and cousins. The family received relatives and friends for a viewing on Monday, June 17, 2019, at Colonial Funeral Home in Brick, NJ. Afuneral Mass was offered on Tuesday at St. Dominic Church, Brick. Interment followed at Ocean County Memorial Park, Toms River, NJ. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St Jude’s Children’s Hospital at www.stjude.org/donate. ...
