Tuesday, July 9, was an unusually busy day for the Livingston Fire Department, which responded to a dump truck accident that took down three utility poles; a transformer fire; a garbage truck fire; and a gas leak, all before noon.
The morning began with a general alarm which sounded at about 5 a.m. A Mack dump truck, owned by Smith Sondy Construction of Wallington, struck wires during an overnight repaving project on South Orange Avenue, causing extensive traffic delays throughout the day.
