A proposed ordinance to acquire property to be used for a new township public works building was passed at the Monday, September 16, Township Council meeting.
The ordinance would authorize the commencement of an action under eminent domain to acquire block 102, lot 12 in Livingston. The 8.392 acre parcel of land is currently owned by the Zheng Yaun International Flagship School, LLC. It is located on Industrial Parkway, and is currently an overgrown field.
The purpose of acquiring the property for public use, according to the ordinance, would be to build a new Department of Public Works facility. There have been discussions on whether to renovate or move the existing South Livingston Avenue facility for several years.
