To benefit its Vehicle Fundraising Initiative, Livingston Philanthropies, Inc. (LPI) will hold its second annual Fur and Leather Extravaganza sale this Saturday, October 26, with a rain date of Sunday, October 27. The fundraiser will take place from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the home of LPI founder and director, Jeff Friedman, and his wife, Karen, at 8 Country Club Road (off Walnut Street, across from Cedar Hill Country Club). The Extravaganza will feature more than 50 fine quality fur coats and jackets, donated by philanthropic Livingston residents. Proceeds will go toward helping the Livingston non-profit organization purchase a much-needed dedicated vehicle. “As many West Essex Tribune readers know, Livingston Philanthropies, now in our ninth season of giving, provides for the homeless and profoundly poor,” noted LPI director Jeff “The Coat Guy” Friedman. This year, the Fur Extravaganza sale will feature a “Fur Vault” section featuring higher-end furs. “Our very finest garments will be highlighted in the vault as ‘stars,’ including a full-length BlackGlama mink coat, a full-length mink-lined raincoat, a reversible leather and mink jacket, and various pieces made from fox, rabbit, sable, and more,” said Friedman. “We’re pleased to offer shearling and Persian lamb, as well. Everything is priced to go, at a fraction of the original cost.” In addition to the fur sale, LPI has recently launched a GoFundMe page, noted Friedman, “to fund services for those who need care the most. Won’t you visit our campaign at https://www.gofundme.com/f/vehicle-to-serve-the-homeless-amp-profoundly-poor with your generous contribution, please? Or, you can mail a check to LPI, P.O. Box 247, Livingston, NJ 07039 or donate on Paypal at paypal.me/lpinj. All donations to LPI are tax-deductible for 2019.” He continued, “Finally, and most importantly, it’s coat season. Warm coats and jackets are badly needed by those living out on the streets. Please drop your donations, including winter accessories such as hats, gloves, and scarves, to LPI’s partner, the West Essex Tribune, located at 495 South Livingston Avenue, next to ShopRite. And, thanks to the many who continue to donate, and to LPI’s too-small group of volunteers.” Speaking of volunteers, Friedman added, “we need additional volunteers now to continue current services! Please send me an email to explore fun opportunities at njhomeless@aol.com. You can also visit our website at njhomeless.org.” Photo: Livingston Philanthropies, Inc.
