Santo “Sam” John Petronella, 89, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 18, 2020, in Livingston, New Jersey.
Born in Newark, New Jersey, Sam resided in Livingston for the past 54 years, where he was a State Farm Agent for 34 years, before his retirement in 2000.
He enjoyed coaching his children’s Little League teams, watching the New York Yankees, playing golf, traveling, and most of all, spending time with his beloved family at their shore house in Lavallette. Sam was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Anna Petronella; his brothers, Alex and George; and his brother-in-law, Phil Bigotto. He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Elizabeth (Deubel). He is also survived by his loving children, Betty Ann Formato (Robert), Michael (Suzanne), Robert, and Sam, Jr., as well as his grandchildren, Madeline Gill (Joe), Frank (Melissa), Matthew Formato (Nicole), Nicole Donnelly (Kevin), Amanda Sobocinski (Robert), and Dan; his great-grandchildren, Sadie, Andie, Casey, Madison, Axel, Robbie, Roman, and Rocco; his sister, Evelyn Bigotto; his sisterin- law, Connie Petronella; and his many nieces and nephews.
Funeral arrangements are private and under the care of Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, Livingston.
