At the Monday, September 21, meeting of the Livingston Township Council, members listened to public comment concerning a final hearing ordinance that may result in an apartment complex with affordable housing.

Apartment Complex Hearing
A final hearing ordinance, to amend chapter 170 of the township code, establishing a new inclusionary development zone, designated “MU-2 Mixed-Use Overlay District,” was discussed. The purpose of this district is to provide, as primary intended uses, inclusionary residential development in an overlay zone permitting both townhouses and a mixed-use building containing residential units over permitted ground floor non-residential uses. The ordinance does not change the zoning, but rather provides a zoning overlay, an option, if the court approves it and it passes, that can be used to settle affordable housing obligations. to p a tra Ant Frid at 6 resp A
