Gabriella DeFilippo ofLivingston has recently earned her Gold Award, the highest award offered in Girl Scouting. She is a member of Livingston Girl Scout Troop 20735, and has been since the age of five. Her mom, Kim DeFilippo, established the troop in 2007 as a townwide troop, notes Gabriella, “so we had girls from every elementary school, and I have made some lifelong friends from the program.” She has been a dedicated Girl Scout for the past 13 years, earning her Bronze, Silver, and now Gold awards. For her work in earning all three level awards, she was also presented with the Girls Scouts’ Heart of New Jersey Change Maker Award. She had earned the Bronze Award for the Troop’s Adopt a Grandparent program, created inpartnership with Care One Livingston when she was in fifth grade; and the Silver Award for a pediatric cancer awareness campaign and new toy drive for immune-compromised children at Goryeb Children’s Hospital, which she earned on her own in seventh grade while undergoing treatment for leukemia.     To read more please log in or subscribe to the digital edition http://www.etypeservices.com/West%20Essex%20TribuneID480/   ...
