As of Wednesday morning, September 1, the Livingston Health Department has reported that a total of 2,339 Livingston residents have tested positive for COVID-19 since the first case was recorded in mid-March of 2020. 89 of those residents have died as a result of the virus.Compared to the same time last week, there are 24 new cases, with one additional death. This marks the first COVID death in Livingston in nearly three months. The last recorded death before this one was reported on June 2. In the past month, there have been 135 cases.More than 5.585 million individuals in New Jersey are fully vaccinated as of Tuesday afternoon.Booster shots will start to be available for the general public beginning on September 20. Recipients must be eight months removed from being fully vaccinated.The Livingston Sears location is expected to reopen for booster shots on September 20.Between August 9 and August 15, 1,637 of 13,118 positive COVID tests in New Jersey have been among fully vaccinated individuals. 31 of the 807 people hospitalized due to COVID that week were fully vaccinated, and zero breakthrough cases resulted in death.Overall, 0.24 percent of the fully vaccinated individuals in New Jersey have tested positive for COVID. At least 2,769 county residents have died from complications related to COVID-19 as of that time. An additional 10,166 cases and 306 deaths are listed as probable.Statewide on Tuesday afternoon, the last available update prior to deadline, there were a reported 951,803 total confirmed cases and 24,151 total confirmed deaths as a result of COVID-19. There are an additional 2,731 probable COVID-19 deaths. Additionally, there are a total of 140,163 positive antigen cases, which are marked as probable cases by the state.The positivity rate for tests as of Tuesday was 5.19 percent, while the rate of transmission was 1.11.As of Tuesday, 1,067 patients with COVID-19 were hospitalized in New Jersey. 414 of those individuals were located in the northern region of the state. 110 of the individuals hospitalized with COVID-19 in New Jersey were on ventilators and 221 individuals required intensive care as of Tuesday.
