Man Is Hospitalized After Car Strikes Tree

An 80-year-old Livingston resident has been hospitalized for the past week after suffering a medical episode while driving his car and crashing into a tree.At about 2:29 p.m. on Wednesday, August 25, the man suffered an apparent unspecified medical condition, causing him to lose control of his black Hyundai Elantra. Police declined to identify the man without asking permission from the family.As a result of the medical episode, the man veered between roadways and lawns on Falcon Road, West Oakwood Avenue, and Brookside Place, before crashing into a tree near Canoe Brook on the lawn of a West Oakwood Avenue home.The man was hospitalized for injuries sustained during the crash. He was initially in critical condition but was listed as stable as of Tuesday afternoon, according to police.There was nothing suspicious about the accident; alcohol and drugs do not appear to have been involved, according to police.
