Livingston’s Senior, Youth and Leisure Services (SYLS) department will host the 11th Annual Fright Night, Trunk or Treat and Haunted Walk. It will be held on Friday, October 29, beginning at 4 p.m. at the Livingston Senior/Community Center (LSCC), 204 Hillside Avenue.The family event will include a walk through a haunted trail, Trunk or Treat, and a costume contest parade featuring Halloween-themed prizes. There will also be DJ entertainment and a “flash mob” dance performance by Livingston Dance Academy dancers.COVID protocols in place at the time of the event will be observed.Trunk or Treat, a safe way for kids to “Trick or Treat,” will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Children can walk from vehicle to vehicle in the parking lot of LSCC collecting treats in their costumes. Anyone interested in participating in decorating a vehicle must pre-register their “trunk.” Select “Fright Night - Trunk or Treat Family Vehicle Participation” for online registration on the township website, or email jwalker@livingstonnj.org. Pre-packaged candy donations will be accepted at the SYLS office, 204 Hillside Avenue, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. prior to the event.The Costume Contest Parade begins a 4:30 p.m. Children will have the opportunity to parade around the LSCC parking lot wearing their Halloween costumes. Costumes will be judged by the following categories: Most creative, best monster/villain, best super hero, funniest, cutest, and best pair/family costumes. Participants must pre-register, free of charge, online at www.livingston-syls.org or at the SYLS office.The Haunted Walk is from 5 to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, October 29, and Saturday, October 30. Pre-registration is available for the Haunted Walk online at www.livingstonsyls.org. There is a cash fee to participate in the walk.The Haunted Trail from 5 to 6:30 p.m. is appropriate for children ages seven and up. From 6:45 to 8:30 p.m., the walk is not recommended for children under ten years old. All children under ten years must be with a parent at all times. Sneakers are recommended and participants should bring flashlights.Those interested in participating in passing out candy or volunteering to be an actor (must be in seventh grade or older) on the haunted trail may go to livingstonnj.org/FrightNight.For questions, call 973-535-7925, option eight, during business hours.
