Livingston Philanthropies, Inc. (LPI) has saluted long-time regular donor, the National Council of Jewish Women, Essex County Section, Creative Hands knitting group, which recently presented the Livingston charity with a large number of hand-knitted items. “Their creative hands have also been busy hands throughout the spring and summer months,” said LPI founder and director, Jeff Friedman of Livingston. The Creative Hands volunteers create projects such as baby blankets, hats, infant and baby sweaters, and face masks to donate to hospitals, nursing homes and community organizations. “Creative Hands NCJW/Essex co-chairwomen Barbara Kerner and Debbie Shelkowitz just delivered hundreds of beautiful hand-crafted knit items for distribution by Livingston Philanthropies’ Newark partners,” recounted Friedman. “ ‘We have lots of stuff for you,’ Barbara told me, and said, ‘We know you’ll get it to the right people!’ ”Friedman and the group’s co-chairwomen cannot remember the exact number of years the two organizations have been partnering to serve those living out on the streets and families living below the poverty line. “As LPI has now commenced its 11th season of providing for the homeless, profoundly poor and disenfranchised, it seems that Creative Hands has been with us since almost the beginning,” reminisced Friedman. He added, “Livingston Philanthropies invites Livingston’s civic, religious, corporate and service organizations to join others who have partnered with us. Please send an email to director Friedman at njhomeless@aol.com. Tax deductible, individual and family contributions may be mailed to LPI, 8 Country Club Road, Livingston, NJ 07039 or handled electronically at paypal.me/lpinj.”LPI is an affiliate of Healthy Community/Healthy Youth (HCHY) of Livingston.Photo: Members of the National Council of Jewish Women, Essex County Section, Creative Hands knitting group was busy creating items all spring and summer for Livingston Philanthropies, Inc.
