Car and Home Burglaries Reported

Livingston police are currently investigating four car burglaries and three residential burglaries reported during the past week.Cars EnteredOn Thursday, December 9, at 6:19 a.m., an unknown perpetrator attempted to enter a car on Sterling Drive. According to police, a dark colored car pulled up in front of the house. One person got out and was trying to open doors on cars in the driveway. The person ran back to the waiting car when the homeowner turned on the outside lights.Also on Thursday, a Rockhill Drive resident reported that his BMW had been burglarized sometime during the overtime period between Monday, December 6, and Tuesday, December 7. The vehicle had been unlocked overnight, and an unknown person had rummaged through the interior. In addition the front license plate had been removed from the vehicle.A Beaufort Avenue resident checking his Ring camera on Sunday, December 12, at 7:15 a.m. saw that someone had burglarized his vehicle. According to police, a dark colored sedan stopped in front of the house and one person got out. The person ran to a BMW, covering his hands with his sleeves, and opened the door. The suspect got into the driver’s seat, rummaged around the interior, and then got out and opened the trunk and went through the contents.Nothing was reported missing and the key fob was not in the car, so it could not be started.The following day, Monday, December 13, at 4:27 p.m., a Randolph resident was visiting a relative on Dickinson Lane when his car was burglarized. The victim’s Audi was parked in a driveway and was unlocked, but the key fob was not in the car. According to reports, a small black car pulled into a nearby driveway. One person got out and approached the victim’s car, entering through the passenger door. The perpetrator rummaged around inside the car and stole a wallet. The person then returned to the waiting car, which left the area via Passaic Avenue.Homes BurglarizedA residential burglar alarm called police to a Camelot Drive home on Saturday, December 11, at 6:05 p.m. The alarm had activated in the area of the master bedroom of the home. The first officer to arrive found that a rear sliding door to the master bedroom had been shattered. They noted, however, that nothing in the home appeared out of place. The homeowners arrived and confirmed that nothing appeared to be missing.During that investigation,
