Take Advantage of Summer

Over the past few months, it has been wonderful to witness the return of some of our great summer traditions, including the Memorial Day Parade, Fourth of July Fireworks, and, just this past week, National Night Out. We also concluded the annual summer concert series, a smashing success that packed the Oval each weekend. There is so much going on in town, and it has been nice to see Livingston shine in the summer, as it always does. Part of what makes Livingston so special is that our community provides so many opportunities for summer activities and relaxation right here in town. Residents do not have to leave town to join a pool, participate in a group hike, play in a sports league, take part in educational programs, watch an outdoor movie, or listen to great live music. They also do not have to spend a lot of money to do so.We have a month left before school starts back up, along with all of the activities associated with it (which is great for stories in the Tribune, but not for everyone’s free time!), so let us all enjoy our vacations, backyard gatherings, and late evening strolls while we can! Go outside and take advantage of the summer fun happening just a few blocks from home. Walk, hike, and run through our trails and parks. Ride bikes around town, fish in the pond, and meet up with friends for lunch. Pick up a new sport, try as many ice cream flavors as you can, and host a barbecue and invite your neighbors. And if you decide to take a trip down the shore or out of state, that is fine too. Enjoy what’s left of the summer in your own way.Take the time to appreciate the season while we have it, because while the spirit of the community may be year-round, these warm, sunny days will not last forever!
