Livingston resident Rose Wallach turned 100 on Thursday, November 30. She was bominNewarkin 1923, and lived in Maplewood for over 50 years before moving to Livingston 18 years ago.She marriedher high school sweetheart, George, at age 18. Once her husband’s dental practice closed, the couple wouldsee a showinNewYork City every Wednesday. They also loved to try all the new restaurants in the city. They were married for 66 years before his passing in 2007.Four generations of her family live in Livingston, including her daughter Joan Silverstein; grandaughters (Continued on Page A-6) Lauren Schor and Rachel Davis; as well as her great grand-children Lily, Chase, and Sienna. Her son, Ron, lives in Hawaii.For the last seven years, she has been living full-time with her caretaker Eli, who has become part of the family.She is a crossword puzzle enthusiast, and an expert bridge player. Her family jokes that she should be a contestant on “Wheel of Fortune” or “Jeopardy.”Wallach is also an excellent cook, and is known for her chicken soup.For her 100th birthday, the family had a private dinner at Il Capriccio in Whippany.
