Pharmacy Is Robbed at Gunpoint; Attempted Burglary at Jewelry Store

During the past week, a township pharmacy was robbed at gunpoint and a j ewelry store reported an attempted break in, according to Livingston Police.Invictus PharmacyAt 12:30p.m. onSaturday,December 30, Livingston officers responded to Invictus Pharmacy at 91 East Mt. Pleasant Avenue on a report of a robbery.Upon arrival, officers were met by the store owner and employees, who said that they were robbed at gunpoint. Two masked suspects had entered the store brandishing handguns and made their way behind the counter, where they stole a large quantity of prescription medication and fled the scene.Livingston Detectives began a “round the clock” investigation, and by early Tuesday morning, January 2, they identified and arrested one of the two suspects.Nariq Petes, 25, of Newark, was arrested and charged with four counts of robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, unlawM possession of a weapon- certainpersons nottohavefirearms,andtheft. Hewas remanded to the Essex County jail.The investigation is ongoing by the Livingston Detective Bureau.Fasseas JewelryAt 10:55a.m. onMonday, January 1, officers responded to Fasseas Jewelry, 163 South Livingston Avenue, on a report of an attempted burglary to the store.Officers arrived and were met by the owner of the store, who said that he found his electrical meter removed from the building and pry marks on the rear door where entry was attempted.The Livingston Detective Bureau is investigating the matter.The Tribune.
