This past week, the Livingston F ire Department made two trips to provide mutual aid to the East Hanover Fire Department. LFD also responded to a single call about a gaseous odor at a residence and multiple smoke alarm activations.Mutual AidOn Tuesday, April 9, the East Hanover Fire Department requested a fire engine from the LFD to assist with the overhaul of a structure fire.A fire engine from the LFD was requested again by the East Hanover Fire Department to assist with a structure fire on Monday, April 15. The Livingston firefighters performed an overhaul on the exterior of the garage that caught fire.OdorA gaseous odor was reported at the residence of 51 Hickory Avenue on Sunday, April 14. No gas reading was found, but PSE&G was on the scene and investigated the incident.Alarm TransmissionsOn Tuesday, April 9, a fire alarm transmission was activated at 11 Microlab Road because an employee was using a vacuum that created a dusty condition. The alarm system was reset.The following day, a fire alarm transmission was activated at 4000 Pointe Gate Drive. This system was started due to dust being swept by the maintenance team.A carbon monoxide alarm went off at 11 Tower Road on Wednesday, April 10. The homeowner was advised to purchase a new detector.Afire alarm transmission was activated at 18 Grassmere Court due to cooking. The caretaker was advised and no further action was taken.(Continued on Page A-8) A smoke alarm was beeping in the basement of 93 West Northfield Road on Wednesday, April 10. The smoke alarm was disarmed per the homeowner’s request.On Saturday, April 13, a carbon monoxide detector was activated at 6 Edgemere Road. The LFD found no levels within the home. They let the homeowners know they should replace the detector.A fire alarm transmission was activated at 60 East McClellan Avenue on Sunday, April 14, due to burning food.The Westminster Hotel’s fire alarm went off that Sunday, as well. The smoke detector was set off by a dust detector in remote terminal unit #20. The system would not reset, so the alarm company was notified.The carbon monoxide detector at 15 Wellington Road went off on Sunday because the unit was defective. The homeowners were alerted they need to replace the detector.On Monday, April 15, a fire alarm went off at 135 East McClellen Avenue due to a system malfunction. The system was reset.
