"Elves" Are Hard at Work Restoring Camuso Display

Article Image Alt Text
Santa's elves may be busy in the North Pole; but, they have nothing on the elves who are busy in Livingston preparing the Camuso Holiday display.
The Camuso holiday decorations, erected for years at the Camuso home on Burnet Hill Road, were donated to the community by the family following Ernie Camuso’s death. A committee was formed including some 20 local residents, Saint Barnabas Medical Center and the Business Improvement District. The figures in the display, all created and made by hand by Ernest Camuso, a former toy maker, had withstood many years of abuse by the weather. The materials available to Camuso in the early years were much more fragile than what is available today and many of the figures had fallen into disrepair. Some were so badly damaged that they were not usable; however, the committee has been working for the past four years to repair and restore them.
