Kushner Wins Baseball Championship

Article Image Alt Text

The Rae Kushner Yeshiva High School Cobras baseball team won the Yeshiva League Championship on Sunday, June 20, defeating the Frisch Cougars at Smith Field in Parsippany. This was the third time in the last four seasons that Kushner had faced off against Frisch in the title game, with Kushner winning in 2017.

The game featured Frisch’s sophomore pitcher, Jack Ruditzky, matching up with Kushner pitcher, Ilan Cohen. The two aces pitched perfect first innings before Frisch took the lead in the second, scoring the first run of the game.

Cohen coasted through the top of the third inning with help from a leaping catch by Kushner senior second baseman Eitan Kaynan. In the bottom of the third, third baseman Eli Fishbein hit a leadoff double and, after advancing to third on a groundout, scored on a bunt by right fielder Ben Orbach.

Lancer Girls’ Track Team Earns Liberty Conference Title; Undefeated in Dual Meets

As the season headed into the championship phase, the Livingston High School girls’ track and field team, said coach Dave Czeizinger, “kept their foot on the gas.”

As a result, the Lady Lancers finished the season undefeated in Super Essex Conference (SEC) dual meet competition.

“And in a strange ending to the conference campaign, another twist of fate had them share the conference crown after a 136-136 tie in the championship meet with Bloomfield,” he said.
