Livingston residents are bringing the community together through song and for a cause this Sunday for “Livingston Sings.” The livestreamed musical fundraiser will be brought “from our home to yours,” according to the organizers, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Music heals the soul, especially at times like these. It brings us together even when we are separated by physical distance,” said resident Neeli Margolis, administrator of the LTown Lowdown Facebook page. “The economic consequences of the pandemic have already touched our community. We wanted to support Livingston Neighbors Helping Neighbors’ efforts to provide relief to financially insecure residents. This event is a wonderful opportunity to help them meet some of our residents’ essential needs while bringing the entire community together for a night of much-needed entertainment.”

The number of Livingston residents with COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus, continues to rise, as do numbers across the county, state, country, and global population.

As of Wednesday, April 1, the Livingston Health Department has reported that a total of 109 Livingston residents have tested positive for COVID-19. While the township receives information about the number of positive cases, it has not been told the number of residents who have been tested and how many of the results have been negative. In Essex County overall, there were 2,179 positive tests as of Wednesday morning. At least 36 county residents have died from complications related to COVID-19 as of that time.

“The Livingston Health Department is continuing the monitoring process to identify locations and persons with whom the affected individuals had contact,” mayor Rudy Fernandez said.

A fire in an attached outdoor kitchen at 12 Bunyan Drive on Friday, March 27, was extinguished promptly but not before the kitchen suffered extensive damage.

According to Fire Chief Chris Mullin, the fire began in a built-in outdoor kitchen against the back of the residence. An inner portion of the grill was rotted, enabling heat and fire to transfer from the unit’s firebox to the back of the house and causing the structure to catch fire.

Annemarie Davidson, a Livingston resident for over 50 years, died Friday, March 20.

Born in Bamberg, Germany, Mrs. Davidson graduated from Hunter College and Columbia University with a master’s in social work. She was a school social worker in Livingston for many years.

Mrs. Davidson was pre-deceased by her husband, Louis. She is survived by her daughter, Gina Rossell, and her husband, Roman, and two grandchildren.

A memorial will be planned for a later date. The family has suggested that donations in Mrs. Davidson’s memory be made to the Saint Barnabas Hospice, 95 Old Short Hills Road, Livingston, NJ 07039.

Michael Anthony Jeskey, of Caldwell, NJ, beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend, passed away on March 22, 2020, at the age of 50, surrounded by his loving family.

Michael was born and raised in Livingston, NJ. He is the son of James Jeskey of Livingston and Jeanne Farabaugh Jeskey of Basking Ridge. Michael had a great relationship with both of his parents and could often be found helping them with a project or stopping by to visit.

Mary Elizabeth Mulhall died Sunday, March 29, in Hanover. She was 91 years old.

Born in Newark, Mrs. Mulhall was a resident of Livingston for 67 years and was an active member of St. Philomena Roman Catholic Church in Livingston. She lived the last 2½ years at St. Joseph’s Senior Home, Woodbridge.

Mrs. Mulhall was predeceased by her husband, Robert. She is survived by her children, Mary Witte, (Don), Bob (Lori), Karen Krenek (Ray), Linda Baker (Neil), Anne (Claudia Langieri), Jim (Debbie), and Eileen Kavanagh (Chris); and 19 grandchildren and seven greatgrandchildren.

A memorial service will be arranged at a future date. Mrs. Mulhall was laid to rest at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Montclair. Arrangements are under the direction of Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, Livingston.

Ruth Levin of Livingston died on March 27. She was 88 years old.

She and her late husband, Eugene, owned and operated the Tremont Soda Shop and Scotland Cleaners in Orange. She also worked at the family business, Bagel Bin of Bernardsville.

Mrs. Levin is survived by her three children, Sari (David), Craig (Wendy), and Abby (Wayne); seven grandchildren,

A private funeral will be held with arrangements by Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel.

Katherine Reilly McCabe, 98, of Livingston, died at home on Sunday, March 22.

Mrs. McCabe and her late husband, Jack, were founding members of St. Raphael’s Church in Livingston. She was also a member of the Women’s Club of Livingston and chaired the Social Concerns Committee.

Pre-deceased by her daughter, Kathy McCabe, daughter-in-law Jill McCabe, and her eight siblings, Mrs. McCable is survived by her children: Jean McCabe Bender; John F. and his wife, Kathleen, McCabe; Robert and his wife, Barbara, McCabe; Peter McCabe, and Mark and his wife, Debby McCabe; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Raymond Mignone passed away Saturday morning, March 28, 2020. He was 95 years old.

Born in Newark, New Jersey, Raymond was a long-time resident of Livingston, New Jersey.

A graduate of Newark State Teachers’ College and Seton Hall School of Business, Raymond received his M.A. and Doctoral Equivalency in Special Education from Seton Hall University.

Raymond was a World War II Navy veteran who served as a Medical and Dental Corpsman. His sea service included deployments on an Attack Transport Ship and Sea Plane Tenders. He also served with the U.S. Naval Construction Force (Seabees) and was attached to the U.S. Marine Corps on the island of Okinawa during the Pacific War. His father and brother also served during the war.

James F. (Jim) Isherwood, 89, a former Livingston councilman and dedicated community servant before retiring to Panther Valley in Allamuchy, passed away Friday, March 27, 2020.

Jim was a longtime Livingston resident who served on the Livingston Township Council in the 1970s. His early life was defined by public service and he dedicated his time to many township organizations, including Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, where he served as a Cub Master with Cub Pack 56 and an Assistant Scoutmaster and Committee Chairman with Scout Troop 12; Kiwanis; the Jaycees; Livingston Youth Service Bureau; the Living-ston Division of the Citizens Task Force on Drug Abuse and the Juvenile Conference Committee.

He was the recipient of the Jaycees’ Outstanding Young Man award as well as the Silver Beaver Award, among Scouting’s highest honors.

An attorney, Mr. Isherwood was employed by the Prudential Insurance Company for more than 40 years, retiring in 1993.
