Lady Lancers Defeat Columbia; Fall to Montclair

The Livingston High School girls' tennis team completed its season, losing to Montclair, 3-2, before defeating Columbia, 3-2, both matches played at home.
Montclair 3, Livingston 2: Montclair won the three singles matches while Livingston won the doubles matches. In singles, Montclair's Alexandra Rodriguez, Emma Wallace, and Jessica Roy defeated Jacqueline Gelman, Cathy Nie, and Pujan Neopane.

Volleyball Team Defeats Three Opponents; Team’s Winning Streak Stretches to 17-0

The girls' volleyball team defeated three SEC opponents this past week to improve its record to 17-0. Nutley, Mt. St. Dominic and Montclair Kimberly Academy have become the latest to fall to the Lady Lancers. Not only did the varsity defeat Mt. St. Dominic, 25-19, 25-14, in two games at home, but the Pink Event held at the same time raised more than $1,300 for the Susan G. Komen/North Jersey Affiliate.

Lancer Boys' Cross Country Team Records Fast Times in Conference Championships

The American Division High School Championship Cross Country race was held Tuesday, October 7, in Branch Brook Park in Newark, with the Livingston High School boys' cross country team competing. The boys of Livingston turned in their best race of the season, recording the team's fastest team average (18:09) for the year.

Football Team Sees Record Slip To 2-3 after Loss to Chiefs

The Livingston varsity football team suffered its third straight loss this week when it fell to the Caldwell Chiefs, 25-14, at home on Friday, October 10. Livingston started the game with a touchdown on its first drive of the game. On Caldwell’s six-yard line, quarterback Matt Gibbon passed the ball to wide receiver Greg Glassman. After a completed extra point from Mark Silvestri, Livingston took an early 7-0 lead.

Football Team Falls to East Orange Campus, 35-27

The Livingston Lancers varsity football team suffered its second loss of the season, falling to East Orange Campus High School, 35-27, on Thursday, October 2. Despite this loss, head coach Barry Kostibos remained optimistic, saying that his team “played a full 48 minutes with a lot of heart and enthusiasm,” but “made mistakes that we need to focus more on.” East Orange set the tone early in the first quarter when they recovered a fumble on the Lancers’ first play of the game.

LHS Boys' Varsity Soccer Loses to Montclair; Ties with Newark Academy and Seton Hall Prep

In recent action, the Livingston High School boys' varsity soccer team posted ties with Newark Academy and Seton Hall Prep, and lost to Montclair. The Lancers traveled to Newark Academy last week and got out to a quick start on a goal by senior Alex Sugarman. Fellow senior Dan Kaltman took a corner kick which Jack Wasserman flicked into the box.

LHS Girls' Volleyball Team Event Supports Breast Cancer Awareness

When it comes to high school girls' volleyball, the Mount Saint Dominic Lions and the Livingston Lancers are fierce competitors on the court. Off the court, however, they are teaming up to support the Susan G. Komen for the Cure organization and breast cancer awareness with their Pink Event. The fund-raiser will held on Saturday, October 11, in the Livingston High School gym. All proceeds from this event will be donated to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure in North New Jersey Foundation.

LHS Tennis Team Splits Week's Matches

The Lady Lancer tennis team won two and lost two matches in county and regular season play this week. Livingston defeated Cedar Grove in the Essex County Tournament before losing to Glen Ridge in the county quarterfinals. The team defeated Caldwell in a Super Essex Conference match before losing to Mt. St. Dominic in a regular season match. Livingston has a 3-8 win-loss record, 1-3 in the conference.
