LHS Girls' Basketball Team Wins Championship

Last week, the Lady Lancers completed an historic regular season, finishing 11-1 in the SEC Conference to capture their fi rst conference title in 20 years. In a season which featured many highlights, the Lancers currently have a 21-5 record and are on a ten game winning streak.

Scavetta excels at Meet of Champions

The Livingston Lancers' own version of the "Dynamic Duo," Matt Scavetta and Andrew Berger, traveled  to the Bennett Center "bubble" in Toms River on Saturday, February 21, to represent Livingston High School at the prestigious Meet of Champions track and fi eld meet. To qualify for this meet, each athlete had to finish in the top six in the Group IV State Championship meet or earn one of six available wild card spots. Both Scavetta and Berger qualified for the meet in the pole vault.

Shown holding their baseball gloves, the oldest youth clinic group takes a break from the fi elding session. The coaching staff are all members of the LHS 2009 GNT championship team.

Girls' Basketball Team Finishes in First Place

The Livingston sixth grade girls' travel basketball team finished in first place in the Essex County League. The Lancers finished the season with six straight wins and captured first place with a convincing eight point win over the second place Nutley team in their final game. Point guards Hayley Locke and Samara Elster controlled the tempo, with Rose Sandiford and Ava Intile dominating down low. Jessie Bullion played tough defense, shutting down Nutley's best player, holding her to only four points.

Conklin Nets 100th Head Coach Career Win As Lancers Defeat Millburn in Quarterfi nals

The Livingston High School hockey team shut out the Millburn Millers, 2-0, in the McInnis Cup Quarterfi nals on Saturday, February 14 at the Codey Arena in West Orange. The victory also marked a milestone for Dave Conklin, who recorded his one-hundredth win as a high school head coach in his eighth season with the Lancers. The game was held at a scoreless tie in the fi rst period, and the teams played evenly and physically in the first 15 minutes of the game. Both teams had a few scoring chances, but neither was able to capitalize on their opportunities.

Youth Practices Table Tennis Every Day; Dreams of Representing U.S. in Olympics

His favorite composer is Mozart and he sings with the Select Chorus at Heritage Middle School. He enjoys sketching and has taken GT (gifted and talented) art classes. He was a serious swimmer at age six. He likes basketball and soccer and is fluent in Chinese. He is also a "nice guy" who likes to help kids, whether or not they speak English or are just beginning to play table tennis. He wants to be a lawyer, to help other people. Jack Wang, an eighth grader, became a 2015 U.S. National Junior and Cadet Boys Team member in December and is working hard to represent the U.S. in international table tennis tournaments this year. His dream is to play in the Olympics.
