Offer Funeral Mass For Eileen Quinn, 95

Eileen Quinn died on October 14 at the age of 95. Visitation will be held from 9 to 10:30 a.m. today, Thursday, at the Farmer Funeral Home in Roseland. The funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church in Roseland. Born in Newark, Miss Quinn moved to Livingston in 1952. She was a clerical worker for Bergen Brunswig Medical Supplies for 19 years. Prior to that, she had been an employee at Kearfott Manufacturing Company for 22 years. Predeceased by three brothers and four sisters, Miss Quinn is survived by many nieces and nephews. Condolences and memories may be shared at www.farmerfuneral.com.

Offer Funeral Mass For Georgiana Cona

Georgiana B. Cona, 97, died at her residence in Livingston on Sunday, October 12. The Funeral Mass celebrating her life was offered at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church in Roseland, on Wednesday, October 15. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Saint Barnabas Hospice and Palliative Care Center 95 Old Short Hills Rd., West Orange, NJ 07052. Mrs. Cona, who received a bachelor’s degree from the College of St. Elizabeth in Convent Station, was born in Orange and had lived in West Orange for many years before moving to Livingston 54 years ago. For many years, she was an administrative assistant at Macy’s Department Store in New York City. She was also a member of the Essex Skating Club. Predeceased by her husband, Ernest R. Cona, Sr. and son, Ernest R., Jr., she is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Albert Arnold, 70, Succumbs to Cancer

Albert P. Arnold died at the age of 70 on October 13, following a long battle with cancer. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Jude Roman Catholic Church in Budd Lake on Friday, October 17. Visitation will bhe held at the Cochran Funeral Home in Hackettstown today, Thursday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Born in Livingston to the late Anita and Albert Arnold, Mr. Arnold lived in Budd Lake. He worked as an electrician with I.B.E.W. Local 52 for 40 years. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Joyce; a son, Tom and his wife Lenore; a daughter, Karen and her husband Kevin; a sister, Anita Nurge; and three grandchildren. The family has suggested that memorial contributions be made to the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, 1275 York Avenue, New York, New York 10065.

Board Holds Wide-Ranging Discussions at Workshop; Registration, Curriculum, and Budget Among Topics

The Board of Education and members of the administration discussed a number of concepts at the October 9 workshop meeting. It also approved two personnel measures, the appointment of James Kadus as a long-term substitute teacher, replacing Dana Wallock, from October 20 through March 3, at Hillside, and the resignation of Hayley Davis, an instructional aide at Collins.

Police Arrest Suspected Car Thief

A suspect in a car theft from Newark Airport was arrested in the parking lot of the Livingston ShopRite on Tuesday afternoon, October 7. Several weeks ago, Livingston Police had received a report from Port Authority offi cers that a grey 2014 Chevrolet Spark with Connecticut license plates had been stolen from the Hertz parking lot at Newark Airport.

Football Team Falls to East Orange Campus, 35-27

The Livingston Lancers varsity football team suffered its second loss of the season, falling to East Orange Campus High School, 35-27, on Thursday, October 2. Despite this loss, head coach Barry Kostibos remained optimistic, saying that his team “played a full 48 minutes with a lot of heart and enthusiasm,” but “made mistakes that we need to focus more on.” East Orange set the tone early in the first quarter when they recovered a fumble on the Lancers’ first play of the game.

LHS Boys' Varsity Soccer Loses to Montclair; Ties with Newark Academy and Seton Hall Prep

In recent action, the Livingston High School boys' varsity soccer team posted ties with Newark Academy and Seton Hall Prep, and lost to Montclair. The Lancers traveled to Newark Academy last week and got out to a quick start on a goal by senior Alex Sugarman. Fellow senior Dan Kaltman took a corner kick which Jack Wasserman flicked into the box.

School Bus Driver Arrested with Weapon

A 47 year old Paterson man, employed by the Livingston Board of Education as a school bus driver, was arrested on Thursday, October 2, as the result of an apparent road rage incident the previous day. The victim, a 39 year old man from Sussex County, was driving on North Livingston Avenue when he became embroiled in a dispute with the driver of a 2004 Infiniti SUV.
