Teaching "Life" Skills

Algebra, chemistry, physics – when it comes to many class requirements, high school students are often at a loss as to why they have to learn certain things. One course that needs no explanation, however, is the CPR and AED training that Livingston High School students receive as part of the 11th grade health curriculum. Although Livingston has taught students CPR and first aid for years, recently passed legislation now requires CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) and AED (automated external defibrillator) training as part of the state's high school health education curriculum.
