Gertrude “Trudy” Schulman Brenner, 71, of Livingston and Belmar, died on December 13.

Funeral services were held at Bernheim-Apter-KreitzmanSuburban Funeral Chapel on December 16.

Mrs. Brenner was born to the late Samuel Schulman and Anna Schulman, and grew up in Irvington. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Brenner, and her sister, Thelma Goldfinger. She is survived by a sister, Beatrice Blau; a brother-in-law, Richard Goldfinger; and other family members.

Donations in Mrs. Shulman’s memory may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Michael Bonder of Livingston died on Wednesday, December 12. He was 45 years old.

Dr. Bonder grew up in Livingston and graduated from Seton Hall Prep in 1991. He received a bachelor of science degree in physics from James Madison University. For his master’s degree, he attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and then the University of Salford in Manchester, England as a Joule Scholar, where he was awarded his Ph.D.

While on the physics faculty at the University of Delaware, Dr. Bonder was granted a patent in the area of magnetic nanoparticles.

He is survived by his parents, Ronnie and John J. Bonder; his brother, David Bonder (Brooke); his grandfather, John Bonder; and other family members.

A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Philomena Church on Monday, December 17. Funeral arrangements were made by the Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home.

George B. Meyers of Barnegat, formerly of Livingston, died Wednesday, December 12. He was 91 year old. 12, 2018.

Visitation was held on Friday, December 14, at the Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home old Livingston. A funeral Mass was offered on Saturday, December 15, at St. Raphael’s Church, Livingston, with entombment following at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover.

Mr. Meyers was born in South River. After graduating from St. Benedict’s Prep School, he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He then went to college at Fordham University, graduating in 1950. He worked as vice president, claims, for the Motor Club of America in Newark, and then Preserver Insurance Company in Paramus.

He was the husband of Frances Meyers for 64 years; the father of Gail, Lauren, Kim, and the late Mark Meyers. He was also a grandfather of four and a great-grandfather as well.

Grace Monaghan, formerly of Livingston, passed away on December 9, 2018. She died peacefully as a resident of Seabrook Extended Care Facility in Tinton Falls, New Jersey, one week short of her 101st birthday.

She is survived by five sons: Dennis of Raquette Lake, New York and Sebastian, Florida; Jay of Manasquan, New Jersey; Patrick of Houston,Texas; Joseph ofToms River, New Jersey; and Thomas of Landenberg, Pennsylvania. Her son William, formerly of West Orange, passed away in 2001.

Grace leaves behind seven grandchildren and five-great grandchildren and one on the way. In addition to her sons, Grace also leaves daughters-in-law Mary, Gwen, Maryann and Patti.

Grace graduated from St. Vincent's Academy in 1935. She and Jim were married in 1940 and resided in Belleville before moving to Livingston in 1952.

A modest but fluent and enthusiastic group of 15 Livingston residents turned out Monday night at a public meeting to solicit feedback on the traits and characteristics the community would like to see in the next superintendent of schools.

About the same number of people participated from home. The forum, 90 minutes long, was live-streamed on the district’s website and YouTube. It can be viewed by going to livingston.org/BOE_LIVE.

The video was also live-streamed by community member Brian Bradley and posted on the Livingston Education! Parent and Community Forum Facebook site. As of Tuesday afternoon, 540 views were indicated on the site.

A Newark man was fined in Livingston Municipal Court this past week in connection with a road rage incident that took place in Livingston during the fall.

Zahir Robinson, 21, faced both traffic and criminal charges in the aftermath of the October 22 incident, which took place in the area of West Mt. Pleasant and South Livingston Avenues.According to court officials, Robinson punched the other driver involved in the incident, Louis Fontanella of Wharton, numerous times.

Traffic charges included possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS) in a motor vehicle, and driving with a revoked driver’s license.

After receiving votes from four of five Council members, the Township Council selected a new name for Formosa Plastics Road. The selection was announced by township manager BarryLewisattheMonday,December 17, conference meeting.

The Council reviewed submissions from residents before casting their votes based on the suggestions, with Volunteer Way receiving the most support.

As the final Livingston Township Council meeting wound down on Monday, December 17, councilman Michael Silverman unexpectedly announced his resignation, effective January 1.

“I have been sitting on this dais for six years and, as most of you know, I, like everyone else, has had good days and tougher days, but on a whole, representing the people of Livingston is not only an honor but also a privilege,” Silverman said during the meeting. “I am saddened to have to say I am leaving this post. Earlier today, I submitted my formal resignation, effective January 1, 2019, to our township manager and township clerk.”

After 50-plus years in town, Silverman said he and his wife Daena have decided to downsize their living conditions and will purchase a townhouse in West Orange.

John A. Pannucci, 93, a former Livingston resident and a 30-year resident of Manchester, died at his son’s home on Sunday, December 10. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 14, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals in Toms River. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday, December 15, at 10 a.m. at St. John’s Roman Catholic Church in Lakehurst. Condolences may be shared at ryanfuneralhome.com.

Mr. Pannucci was born in Orange and lived in Livingston before moving to Manchester. He also spent 25 years wintering in Delray Beach, Florida. He was a long-time parishioner of St. Philomena Church in Livingston and St. John’s in Lakehurst.

Prior to retirement, Mr. Pannucci was a computer systems analyst and programmer for the Department of the Army. He was a member of the Leisure Village West Bocce Club, the Italian-American Club, and various computer clubs.

Patricia “Trish” Duffy, 65, of Livingston, died Monday, December 3. Visitation was held on Sunday, December 9, at the Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home of Livingston. A funeral Mass was offered on Monday, December 10, at St. Philomena’s Church, Livingston, followed by interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover.

Born in Newark, Mrs. Duffy was a lifelong resident of Livingston and member of St. Philomena Roman Catholic Parish. She attended St. Philomena’s grammar school (now known as Aquinas Academy), and later was graduated from East Orange Catholic High School. She then attended Mount Ida College and Montclair State University.
