Field at Okner Complex Named for Tevlin; Fund Raiser Planned for Seton Hall Field

Brendan Tevlin, the Livingston teen murdered in West Orange last June, is not being forgotten. Livingston has named a fi eld at the Okner Sports Complex in his memory and his alma mater, Seton Hall Prep, is planning a similar honor. Brendan's parents, Allison and Michael Tevlin, attended a ceremony at the Okner Parkway sports complex on Friday, October 24, to accept a plaque from the township.

Lady Lancers Raise Funds at ‘Play for Cure’

The Lady Lancers field hockey program was host to Westfield High School on Tuesday, October 21, as they played in their annual Play for the Cure game. The varsity and junior varsity teams dedicated the game to raising money for breast cancer research and stressing the importance of early detection. With a donation from the Westfield Bombers field hockey program, proceeds from the Lancer bake sale, and fan donations, the teams raised close to $600 for the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

Girls' Volleyball Team Has SEC Title; Advances to County & State Tournaments

The Livingston High School girls' varsity volleyball team concluded its regular season with an outstanding record of 18-3 and an American Divisional Super Essex Conference (SEC) title. Now the Lancers enter the 2014  
postseason with the Essex County Tournament and the State Tournament.

Thieves Hit Cars at Northfield Center

Thieves hit two vehicles in Northfield Center on Wednesday morning, October 29. A patrolling Livingston police officer was flagged down at 8:30 a.m. by Michael Witmondt of Montclair, who reported that his 2009 Jaguar XKR had just been stolen. Witmondt told the officer that he had left the vehicle idling while parked on East Northfield Road when he went into a local bagel store. When he returned about two minutes later, the vehicle, which had the keys, registration and insurance documents inside, was gone.

Voters Go to the Polls November 4

Voters throughout New Jersey will go to the polls for the general election this Tuesday, November 4. Statewide, voters will be choosing members of the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives. In the Senate race, the ballot includes Democrat Cory Booker; Republican Jeff Bell; Jeff Boss of the NSA Did 911 Party; Joseph Baratelli of the Libertarian Party; Eugene Martin Laverne of the D-R Party; Antonio N. Sabas of the Choice in Schools Party; and Hank Schroeder of the Economic Growth Party.

Students "Stuff the Bus" for CHOW

Livingston students stuffed a big yellow school bus with healthy foods to replenish shelves at the Community Hunger Outreach Warehouse (CHOW) during "Stuff the Bus," a fall tradition to help local families in need. Baby food, multi-grain cereals, oatmeal, low sodium soups, tuna, peanut butter and jelly, and whole wheat pasta were just some of the donations that now line CHOW’s shelves and helped reopen nearby food pantries.
