LHS Graduate Frank Schwindel to Play In Major Leagues for Kansas City Royals

According to an unofficial announcement by Kansas City Royals Hall of Famer George Brett, Frank Schwindel, a 2010 graduate of Livingston High School has made the roster of the Royals’ Major League team.

During a broadcast of the Royals’ exhibition finale against Triple-A Omaha, on Monday, March 25, Brett said Schwindel had told him he will be part of the Royals’ Major League roster. The official roster was not released before the Tribune’s press deadline.

Schwindel, captain of the 2010 Livingston High School varsity baseball team, was drafted to the Royals’ minor league division from St. John’s University in 2013.

Livingston Junior Lancers Host Harlem Lacrosse

The Livingston Junior Lancers eighth grade boys’lacrosse team played host to the Harlem Lacrosse Program this past weekend.The event took place at the SDA Sports Complex in Clifton, where the Lancer players and coaches welcomed 15 members of the Harlem Lacrosse Program for a two-hour joint practice and scrimmage.

Founded in 2008, the Harlem Lacrosse Program’s mission is “to empower the children who are most at risk for academic decline and dropout to rise above their challenges and reach their full potential.”

Synchonrized Skating Champs

The Skyliners synchronized skating team, which includes Livingston residents, capped its 2018-19 season with five National medals. Three Skyliners’ qualifying lines – Junior, Novice and Juvenile – won national championship gold medals at the 2019 U.S. Synchronized Skating Championships. The Intermediate line won bronze, and the Senior line won silver. Shown above is Shirley Zhu, a Livingston High School senior who skates in the Team USA-titled Skyliners Junior line. Shown below at their home rink, the Codey Arena in West Orange, are Jessica Wang of LHS; who skates in Skyliners Intermediate; Chelsea Peng of Heritage Middle School, who skates in Skyliners Juvenile; Brianna Llanos and Marian Zhang, LHS students skating in Skyliners Novice line; and Isabelle Gao, a Mt. Boys' Basketball Team Senior Night

Each senior player and team manager was introduced with his/her parents, presented with floral bouquets, and photographed. Lancers Compete Well at Meet of Champions

Three members of the Livingston track and field squad traveled to the Bennett Center in Toms River to compete in the prestigious Meet of Champions. The boys’ meet was held on Saturday February 23, and the girls’ meet on Sunday, February 24.

The All Groups or Meet of Champions (MOC) is the final leg of the New Jersey State Tournament. To get to this point, an athlete or relay squad had to finish in the top six in the State Sectional Championships. There are 16 throughout the state.

The second leg pits the top six sectional winners against each other in the State Group Championships. Again, the top six finishers get to move on.
