LHS Boys’ Tennis Team Wins Third Consecutive Sectional Championship

The Livingston High School boys’ tennis team won the North I, Group IV Sectional Championship, with a 4-1 upset victory over top-seeded Montclair High School. This marked the Lancers’ third consecutive sectional title, and the win qualified the Lancers to play for the Group IV State championship.

In the semi-final, Livingston defeated Lenape, the South Jersey sectional champ, before losing to New Jersey’s top-ranked, top-seeded and undefeated Montgomery High School, the Central Jersey sectional champion. Montgomery defeated West Windsor South, 3-2, in the Central Jersey sectional final, and Westfield, 4-1, in the Group IV semi-final.

Parsons Sets Record

PARSONS SETS RECORD: Taylor Parsons, a 2013 graduate of Livingston High School, recently concluded another baseball season at Montclair State University. Parsons posted a 2.16 earned run average (ERA) and recorded six saves. His sixth save was his 14th career save, which set a record at the university.

Boys’ Tennis Team Ranked 10th in State

The Livingston High School boys’ tennis team lost to Newark Academy in a Super Essex Conference match before defeating Bergen Tech in the North I, Group IV Sectional Semifinal.

Livingston has a 16-9 win-loss record. Seven of the nine losses were 3-2 losses to top ten teams in New Jersey. Livingston is currently ranked number ten in the state.

Boys’ Tennis Team Advances to Semi-Finals

The Livingston High School boys’ tennis team advanced to the North I, Group IV Sectional semi-finals with wins over Paterson Eastside and West Orange, while dropping Super Essex Conference matches to Newark Academy and Montclair. The team has a 15-8 win-loss record.

Newark Acad. 4, Livingston 1:

Livingston’s Earl Hsieh recorded the Lancers’ lone point with a 6-2, 3-6, 10-1 (super tie-breaker) victory against Thomas Ito. Newark Academy’s Alex Leaf and Drew Flanagan won second and third singles with straight set decisions against Jason Grant and Josh Brodkin.

LHS GOLF TEAM DEFEATS MILLBURN: The Livington High School golf team defeated the Millers of Millburn High School by six strokes on Tuesday, May 16. The Lancer record stands at four wins against five losses. Lancer captain Kevin Neary qualified for the State Tournament by turning in five rounds of four over par or less. Livingston High School Baseball Players Join With Police Officers in Community Outreach

Players on the Livingston High School baseball team and the Livingston Police Department recently joined forces to kick off a new community outreach called “The Blue/Green Shield Program.” The program name represents the police blue shield and the Livingston Lancer green shield.

On Thursday, April 27, each player was assigned his own individual Livingston Police officer, who took time out of his/her schedule to meet with the player. The pairs met and spent time getting to know one another. This was followed by a ceremony in which stickers of both the Livingston Police Department logo and the police officer’s badge number were affixed to players’ batting helmets.
