Elizabeth Dennis Dies at 80 Years Old

Elizabeth A. Dennis, 80, died on Thursday, October 9. A Funeral Mass was held at St. Philomena’s Church, Livingston, on Tuesday, October 14. Born in Bronx, New York, Mrs. Dennis was raised in Newark, where she attended Weequahic High School. After graduation she began working for Terry Fabrics, where she met her husband, Tom. Together they moved to Livingston 53 years ago. Mrs. Dennis was a “stay-at-home mom” for many years before returning to work as a bookkeeper for Hammill & Gillespie. She retired ten years ago. Predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Thomas Joseph, Mrs. Dennis is survived by her children, Brian Dennis; Marie Magi and her husband, Mark; Lisa Smith and her husband, Daryl; and Geralyn Dennis; her siblings, Robert Kurz and Helen Scarpelli; and fi ve grandchildren. Offer Funeral Mass For Eileen Quinn, 95

Eileen Quinn died on October 14 at the age of 95. Visitation will be held from 9 to 10:30 a.m. today, Thursday, at the Farmer Funeral Home in Roseland. The funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church in Roseland. Born in Newark, Miss Quinn moved to Livingston in 1952. She was a clerical worker for Bergen Brunswig Medical Supplies for 19 years. Prior to that, she had been an employee at Kearfott Manufacturing Company for 22 years. Offer Funeral Mass For Georgiana Cona

Georgiana B. Cona, 97, died at her residence in Livingston on Sunday, October 12. The Funeral Mass celebrating her life was offered at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church in Roseland, on Wednesday, October 15. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Saint Barnabas Hospice and Palliative Care Center 95 Old Short Hills Rd., West Orange, NJ 07052. Mrs. Cona, who received a bachelor’s degree from the College of St. Elizabeth in Convent Station, was born in Orange and had lived in West Orange for many years before moving to Livingston 54 years ago. For many years, she was an administrative assistant at Macy’s Department Store in New York City. She was also a member of the Essex Skating Club. Predeceased by her husband, Ernest R. Cona, Sr. and son, Ernest R., Jr., she is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Albert Arnold, 70, Succumbs to Cancer

Albert P. Arnold died at the age of 70 on October 13, following a long battle with cancer. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Jude Roman Catholic Church in Budd Lake on Friday, October 17. Visitation will bhe held at the Cochran Funeral Home in Hackettstown today, Thursday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Born in Livingston to the late Anita and Albert Arnold, Mr. Arnold lived in Budd Lake. He worked as an electrician with I.B.E.W. Local 52 for 40 years. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Joyce; a son, Tom and his wife Lenore; a daughter, Karen and her husband Kevin; a sister, Anita Nurge; and three grandchildren. The family has suggested that memorial contributions be made to the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, 1275 York Avenue, New York, New York 10065.

Funeral Services For Carole Restaino

Carole J. Restaino of Livingston died Saturday, October 4, in Saint Barnabas Medical Center. Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 7, in the Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel of Livingston. Born in Newark, Mrs. Restaino lived in Union before moving to Livingston in 1981. For many years, she had been a dental assistant in the Belleville office of her late husband, Dr. Robert M. Restaino, D.D.S. Predeceased by her husband of 37 years, Mrs. Restaino leaves her children, Donna Restaino Levey and her husband, Yale Levey; and Dr. Robert Restaino, Jr., and his wife, Fallon; and four grand-children. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.

Private Services For Kenneth Schweiger

Kenneth E. Schweiger, 90, of Whippany, formerly of Livingston, died on Monday, September 22. Services were private. Born in Brooklyn, he served in the US Navy during World War II. He later became a member of the Whippany Veterans of Foreign Wars, serving as a Post Commander. After attending Princeton, Mr. Schweiger later became director of industrial relations for the National Association of Manufacturers. He later served in the same capacity with Singer Corporation and finally for his own firm, Management Consultants. Predeceased by his wife, Marguerite (Lea), Mr. Schweiger is survived by his daughters: Janet Kerr and her husband, Thomas; Dorothy Sobieski and her husband, Kenneth; Lea Bumber and her husband, Edward; and Carol Thompson. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. The family has suggested that memorial contributions be made to the Wounded Warriors Project, P.O. John Burkhardt Frey

Former Livingston resident John Burkhardt Frey, known as "Jack," died at the age of 81 on September 13. A resident of Mahwah, he succumed to complications related to surgery for pancreatic cancer. A memorial service will be held this Saturday, September 27, at 4 p.m. at the Wm. A. Bradley & Son Funeral Home in Chatham. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 2 to 4 p.m. Mr. Frey, who grew up in Livingston, attended West Caldwell High School. In 1956, he was graduated from Cornell University, where he earned a degree in civil engineering. He began his career at DuPont in Wilmington, Delaware and worked for the company for 36 years. After earning an MBA from the University of Delaware, he transferred into marketing research. Mr. Frey taught at the University of Delaware as an adjunct professor for 18 years. Upon his retirement from DuPont, he worked as a consultant.

Martin G. Margolis

Martin G. Margolis, 78, of Livingston and Longboat Key, Florida, died on Friday, September 19, at Saint Barnabas Medical Center. Mr. Margolis was born in Newark. He had lived in Livingston and Longboat Key for many years. A graduate of Rutgers University, he received his J.D. degree from New York Law School. He was a member of the American Bar Association, the New Jersey State Bar Association and the Essex County Bar Association. His office, Margolis Law, LLC, was located in Livingston. He was in practice for 54 years. Memorial contributions may be made to the Saint Barnabas Medical Center Foundation.
