Funeral Services Held For Gerald Moskowitz

Gerald Moskowitz, 86, of Livingston, died at Saint Barnabas Medical Center on January 15.The funeral was held at the Bernheim, Apter, Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel on January 17. Born in Brooklyn, New York, Mr. Moskowitz was graduated from Erasmus Hall High School, City College of New York, and Newark College of Engineering. After working as a chemist for the majority of his career, Mr. Moskowitz became a substitute teacher in the Livingston school system, where he worked for 22 years. He is survived by Paula, his wife of 61 years; his three sons, Bruce, Gary, and Alan; their wives, Christine, Erika, and Michelle; and his five grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the American Heart Association or to Temple Beth Shalom in Livingston.

Mass Offered Tuesday For Donald L. Stevens

Donald Lester Stevens, 82, of North Caldwell, formerly of Livingston, died Saturday, January 13. A Mass was celebrated at Notre Dame Church, North Caldwell, on Tuesday, January 16, followed by the entombment at Gate of Heaven Mausoleum, East Hanover. Born in Newark, Mr. Stevens was raised in Livingston, and had been a resident of the Caldwells since 1959. He was a graduate of Grover Cleveland High School and Upsala College, where he earned a degree in business administration. His entire career was spent at Chubb Life Insurance, from which he retired as executive vice president. He also served in the National Guard. Mr. Stevens was predeceased by his siblings, Benjamin L. Jr., Jane, and Lorraine Stevens. The husband of 60 years to Ann (nee Boucher) Stevens, he was the father of Kathy Stevens Bryson and her husband, Ray; Donald Lawrence Stevens and his wife, Robyn; and Dr. Carol Stevens.

Services Were Held For Nicholas Bonvini

Nicholas Q. Bonvini, 88, of Livingston, died on Wednesday, January 10. He was the former owner of Bonvini’s Restaurant in Livingston for many years and a veteran of the U.S. Army who served during the Korean War. Mr. Bonvini was predeceased by his wife, Antonia, and is survived by his children: Maria Risi (Dino), Nicholas (Lisa), Marcello, and Trisha Seid (Chuck); his ten grandchildren; and a great-grandson. Services took place on Saturday, January 13, at St. Philomena’s Church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations in Mr. Bonvini’s name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Funeral Mass Offered For Dorothy B. Curry

Dorothy B. Curry, a former Livingston resident, died in her Whitehouse Station home on Friday, January 12. She was 76 years old. A funeral Mass was celebrated on Tuesday, January 16, at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Whitehouse Station. Burial followed at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Annandale Born in Newark, Mrs. Curry lived in Livingston and Chester before moving to Whitehouse Station 17 years ago. She was a head teller for Peapack-Gladstone Bank in Gladstone. She was also a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Whitehouse Station. Mrs. Curry is survived by her husband of 57 years, James; two daughters, Cynthia DelTufo and her husband, Nicholas, of Mendham Borough, and Kathleen Walsh and her husband, Daniel, of Maryland; her son, James Jr. and his wife, Luisa, of Alexandria Township; her sister, Carol Maudsley and her husband, Raymond, of Arizona; and eight grandchildren.

Patrick J. O’Neill

Former Livingston resident Patrick Joseph O’Neill, 92, of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully at his home Saturday, January 6, 2018. Patrick was born September 20, 1925 in Orange, NJ. He attended Orange High School before enlisting with the Navy Scouts and Raiders during World War II. After his service in the Navy, Patrick was employed with CNA Insurance for 37 years. Upon retiring in 1993, he devoted a lot of his time volunteering at local hospitals, most recently at Beaches Baptist Hospital in Jacksonville Beach, Florida. He loved traveling with his wife Kate, and taking walks on the beach with their dog Masie, who was waiting for him at the Pearly Gates. Patrick lived life to the fullest; he loved his wife’s cooking, playing golf, and his many friends and family. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association Central and North Florida Chapter, Orlando Office.

Dr. Nemlick Dies at Age 86

Alfred S. Nemlick M.D., of Livingston died Sunday, January 7. He was 86 years old. Dr. Nemlick was a graduate of Rutgers University and Utrecht Medical School in Holland. He served his internship at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center in Newark, and completed his residency in dermatology at the Skin and Cancer Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He practiced dermatology in Montclair for 47 years, and served as head of the Department of Dermatology at Mountainside Hospital for more than 40 years. He also ran the dermatology clinic at Mountainside Hospital and often provided free skin analyses at other venues. Dr. Nemlick was the husband of Myra, and the father of Kenneth and Michael. The family has announced that contributions in his memory may be made to the United Jewish Appeal – Federation of New York, 130 East 59th Street, New York, NY 10022 (www.ujafedny.org).

Kathleen Healy

Kathleen M. Healy, 68, of Livingston, New Jersey, passed away on January 12, 2018 surrounded by her family. Born in Orange, New Jersey to Frank and Julia Eaton, Mrs. Healy was the devoted wife of Neal Healy; loving mother of Colleen Guido (Michael), Erin Craig (Dennis), Brian Healy (Kristin), Ryan Healy, Shannon O'Malley (Sean), Bridget Cooper (Jeff) and Meghan Dufford (Keith); the adoring grandmother of 22 grandchildren and greatgrandmother of eight; and the dear sister of Frank Eaton. "Thank God for you, the wind beneath my wings." A funeral service for the family was held at the Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home on Monday, January 15.

David S. Francione, 50, of Long Valley, New Jersey, formerly of Livingston, passed away Friday, January 12, 2018. Born in Brooklyn, New York, David was a former volunteer firefighter for the town of Livingston and the owner of ProFection Landscaping Design for over 30 years. He was a devout parishioner of St. Philomena’s Roman Catholic Church, where he built a shrine to the Saint and did all of the paving work. David was the devoted husband of Susan Francione; beloved father of Joseph and Nicholas Francione; cherished son of Joseph and Elaine Francione; loving brother of Kevin Francione and his wife, Cheryl; dear nephew of Dennis Passanante and his wife, Jennifer; and the adored uncle of Jesse, Kayla, Felicia, Amanda, Andrew, Nicolette, Dario, Allesio and Giuseppe. David is also survived by his trusty companion, Bluey. The funeral was held on Tuesday, January 16 at St. Philomena Church. In lieu of flowers donations in David’s name to the St.

Su-su Leu, age 84, of Livingston passed away peacefully on Sunday January 7, 2018 at Saint Barnabas Medical Center. Su-su was the beloved wife of the late Liow-Min; devoted mother of Shie-Lin Leu and his wife, Lillian; and Charlie Leu and his wife, Sandra; loving grandmother of Matthew, Cate, Alexander and Faith; dear sister of Mei-mei; and aunt of numerous nephews and nieces. Funeral Services Held in Millburn For Former Governor Brendan Byrne

Funeral services were held on Monday, January 8, at the Paper Mill Playhouse in Millburn for former New Jersey governor Brendan T. Byrne. Politicians from both sides of the aisle, including many former governors, attended the service, which lasted more than two hours. Governor Byrne died Thursday, January 4, in Livingston at the age of 93. Mr. Byrne’s son Brendan Jr. reportedly said his father had developed a lung infection and “was too weak to fight,” Following a dirge by a State Police piper and the playing of taps by a military honor guard, eulogies were presented by Governor Chris Christie, former governor Tom Kean, and the Archbishop of Newark, Cardinal Joseph Tobin, among others. Brendan Thomas Byrne was born on April 1, 1924, and grew up in West Orange. His father, Francis, was the city’s public safety commissioner and later president of the Essex County tax board. His mother was the former Genevieve Brennan. Mr.
