Services Held Feb. 2 For Norma D. Greene

Norma Diana Greene died in her Livingston home on January 31. She was 79 years old. Services were held on Friday, February 2, at the Bernheim-Apter- Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, Livingston. Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Mrs. Greene attended Midwood High School and the University of Michigan, from which she graduated in 1959 with a bachelor of arts degree in elementary education. She was an employee of the West Orange school district for decades, teaching at both Gregory Elementary School and Roosevelt Middle School. After her retirement from teaching, she supervised student teachers at Caldwell University. Mrs. Greene is survived by her husband of 56 years, Leonard; her daughter, Jennifer (Dan); her son, Peter (Susan); and four grandchildren. The family has suggested that memorial contributions be made to CASANA (the Childhood Apraxia of Speech Association of North America) and the Saint Barnabas Hospice and Palliative Care Center.

Private Services For John Sirabian

John Sirabian of Livingston died Friday, February 2, at the age of 88. Funeral services will be conducted privately under the direction of the Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, Livingston. Born in New York City, Mr. Sirabian served in the U.S. Army in the 15th Infantry Regiment during the Korean War. He was a member of the local VFW, and an active member of St. Mary’s Armenian Church in Livingston for over 50 years. Mr. Sirabian was the founder and co-owner of Camatron Sewing Machine, Inc. in New York City. Predeceased by his wife, Alice Sirabian, he is survived by his children, Barbara Sarajian and her husband, Gregory, and Richard Sirabian and his wife, Erika; and five grandchildren.

Helen August

Helen August passed away at home in Livingston on Saturday, February 3, near her 99th birthday. She was born on Eldridge Street on the Lower East Side of Manhattan on March 2, 1919, to Charles and Rebeccah Friedman, and attended high school in Brooklyn. On February 12, 1938 she married Max August and together they had three children. Helen raised her family in Merrick, New York, where she was president of Hadassah. As a teen, she sang on her own radio show and also with Rudy Valee. She helped her husband in his New York City restaurant, Ronall, and went back to school to become an interior decorator. When Helen moved to Livingston in 2014 to live with her son and daughter-in-law she became active in the Margulies Senior Center at the JCC. Four days a week she looked forward to riding the Livingston Senior Citizen bus to meet at the JCC with her new friends. Helen is survived by her daughter, Ronny Mehrberg (Morty); her son, Buddy (Eileen); and Jane August.

Funeral Services For Grace DuBoyce

Grace Pompei DuBoyce died at CareOne in Livingston on February 4. She was 94 years old. A celebration of her life will be held today, Thursday, February 8, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., with an 8:30 p.m. funeral service at the William J. Leber Funeral Home, 15 Furnace Road, Chester. An 11 a.m. entombment service will take place on Friday, February 9, at Hollywood Memorial Park in Union. Mr. DuBoyce was born October 12, 1923, in Newark. She grew up in Bloomfield, and lived in Florham Park for 60 years before spending the last year in Livingston. She was a retired secretary for Electrolux in Union, and previously owned a hair salon in Madison. Mrs. DuBoyce is survived by her husband of 30 years, Edward DuBoyce; her daughters, Claire Pompei and her wife, Dolores Yurkovic; Janice Cordileone and her husband, Anthony; and Deborah Corvasce and her husband, Jerry; her brother, Jerry Fontanazza; her sister-in-law, Mary Alice Coelho; and five grandchildren.

Harriet Hiller

Harriet Hiller, age 95, died on February 1, 2018 at her home of the past 60 years in Livingston, NJ. Born in New York City in 1922, she graduated from Walton High School in the Bronx, ranking fifth of 900 students. She went on to Bernard Baruch College as one of only 75 women city-wide invited to attend, graduating cum laude and as a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma honor society. She financed her education working weekends as a professional Flamenco dancer, performing on Broadway with José Greco and at nightclubs in Greenwich Village. Thereafter, she held supervisory positions at a publisher of scientific textbooks and treatises. Harriet is best known locally for her passionate support of the Livingston Arts Association, for which she served as presiding officer and director of activities for almost 30 years.

Edwin L. Kalmore

Edwin Louis Kalmore, formerly of Livingston, NJ, died January 28, 2018 in Monroe Township, NJ. Funeral services were held on January 29, 2018 at Menorah Chapels at Millburn in Union, NJ. Interment followed at Mount Ararat Cemetery, Farmingdale, NY. Born in Brooklyn, NY, Mr. Kalmore resided in Livingston, NJ for 32 years before moving to Monroe Township, NJ in 1998. Mr. Kalmore received a bachelor of science degree in accounting from the New York University School of Commerce in 1949. He became a certified public accountant licensed to practice in the State of New York. He was a member of both the New York State Society of Certifi ed Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Prior to his retirement, he was a partner with the accounting firm of Wolf and Schulman, formerly of New York City. A veteran who served in the United States Army during World War II, Mr. Kalmore was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant following service in Japan.

Services Held Tuesday For William Teltser, 66

William Andrew Teltser, 66, of Livingston, died on January 27 from complications due to pancreatic cancer. Funeral services were held Tuesday at Menorah Chapels at Millburn in Union. Raised in Millburn and Short Hills, Mr. Teltser resided in New York City for many years before relocating in Livingston almost 30 years ago. He was an attorney for 37 years. Admitted to the bar in New Jersey and New York, he practiced primarily in the areas of labor law and family law. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Carolyn Marlow; his daughters, Regina and Phoebe; his son-in-law, Akin Gogen; his mother, Bernice Teltser; and his sisters, Alberta Pedroja and Patrice Teltser. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial donations be made to Saint Barnabas Medical Center.

Services Held For Dominic Falcone

Dominic R. Falcone, 92, died on January 23. Born and raised in Orange, he lived in Livingston for 56 years and then in SeabrookVillage, Tinton Falls. Mr. Falcone enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1943 and served as a radio and radar technician on B-17 and B-29 long range heavy bombers. He attended Seton Hall and Rutgers universities, and retired from Bell Telephone Laboratories on December 31, 1989. Mr. Falcone served as a grand knight of the Knights of Columbus 13533, Livingston and as president and treasurer of the Livingston Public Broadcast Committee, channel 34. He also volunteered for the Comboni Missionary Support Group in Montclair, St. Philomena Cub Scout Pack 56, Saint Barnabas Medical Center, and Saint Barnabas Hospice and Palliative Care Center. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Helen; his children, Richard and Marie Falcone, Mary Anne and Michael Magliaro, Anthony and Kathleen Falcone, and Kathleen Marie and Thomas Newman; and his six grandchildren.

Former Tribune Employee Isabel Wernsing Dies at 72

Isabel Ann Kievning Wernsing passed away the evening of January 24, 2018 in Greenville, South Carolina. She was born on June 12, 1945 to her parents Isabel and Frederick Kievning. She was raised and lived most of her life in Livingston, NJ. She graduated from Livingston High School and the Berkeley Secretarial School and had worked for Beneficial Finance Company in Morristown, NJ and the West Essex Tribune in Livingston, NJ. She had been an administrative assistant and a classified ad manager. Isabel was the beloved wife of Richard W. Wernsing of Livingston, NJ for fifty-three years and, devoted mother of Richard W. Wernsing, Jr. of Fort Lauderdale, FL and Frederick E. Wernsing of Simpsonville, SC and proud grandmother of Nathan and Brianna Wernsing of Simpsonville, SC. She also leaves two sisters, Judith Bonnafon of Burke, VA, and Linda Hickman of Denver, CO as well as her sister-in-law Joan Higgins of Tinton Falls, NJ. Isabel was a devoted wife and loving mom.

Paul Duchin Dies After Short Illness

Paul Duchin of Livingston died January 28 after a brief illness. He was 76 years old. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, January 31, at the Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, Livingston. He is survived by his sister, Leslie Heller, and his brother-in-law, Hugh Heller. The family has suggested that donations in Mr. Duchin’s memory be made to RWJBarnabas Health or Congregation B’Nai Jeshurun, Short Hills.
