Miriam F. Bresin

Miriam Frances Bresin, (nee Reilly) of Livingston, New Jersey, died on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 after a brief illness and with family by her side at Inglemoor in Livingston. She was 96 years old.
Born in Montclair, New Jersey, to Edward M. and Frances Reilly, “Mim” grew up in Montclair and Verona. She was graduated from Immaculate Conception High School in 1939.
Mim was employed by L. Bamberger & Company in Newark, New Jersey, in the Cosmetics Department when she met Irving Bresin, who was working in the Furniture Department; they were married in 1944. They lived in Irvington and Union, New Jersey before moving to Livingston in 1952. They were married for 37 years until Irving died in 1981.

Funeral this Friday For Agnes Overbaugh

Agnes Edith Overbaugh (nee Edgley) of Livingston, formerly of Newark, died in her home on Tuesday, October 31. She was 80 years old.
Visitation will take place today, Thursday, November 2, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 145 East Mt. Pleasant Avenue, Livingston. A funeral service will be held Friday, November 3, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Restland Memorial Park in East Hanover.
Mrs. Overbaugh was an accountant with Wasilewski and Keating in Basking Ridge before her retirement. She was a member of the Business Women’s Association of Livingston.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Herbert Allen Overbaugh; her sons, Christopher and David Overbaugh; and her siblings, Thomas Edgley, Carole Ann Cortese, and Edith Edgley.

Services Were Held For Dr. Harold Bieber

Dr. Harold Bieber, 90, of Livingston died on Friday, October 27, at his home.
Born and raised in New York, Dr. Bieber lived in Livingston for 57 years.
After being graduated with honors from Townsend Harris High School, he received his bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the City College of New York, and his master’s and doctoral degrees in chemical engineering from the Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute.
Dr. Bieber joined Hoffman-La-Roche in 1956 and worked there for 38 years, becoming an expert in the design of vitamin extraction plants.
He is survived by his children, Ellen Bieber, Barbara and Bill Gedney, and David Bieber; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy, of 60 years, in 2010.
Memorial contributions can be made to the American Stroke Foundation.
Graveside services were held on Sunday, October 29, with arrangements made by Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman.

Edward F. Kelly, Jr.

Edward Francis Kelly, Jr., aged 82, passed away on Monday, October 23, 2017 after a brief illness. He leaves his wife of 57 years, Josephine (Spirito) Kelly; his sons, Edward and John A. Kelly; six grandchildren; and many friends. Edward was born and raised in Elizabeth, the son of Edward F. Kelly, Sr. and Angela Kelly. At the age of 18, he became a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus, and served as a past Grand Knight, past Faithful Navigator, and a former District Deputy. In addition, he was a past Knight of the Order of the Holy Sepulchre. Edward was particularly proud of his service in the United States Marine Corps (1956-1958). The discipline and patriotism he learned in the Corps never left him, as friends and family will attest. Between 1962 and 1989, Edward worked as a professional fi refi ghter for the City of Elizabeth, most of those years with Rescue Company #1. He retired at the rank of Captain.

Funeral Services Held For Cantor Korbman

Cantor Jack Korbman, 81, died on October 18 in his home in Boynton Beach, Florida. Born in Newark, he had lived in Livingston for 34 years. Cantor Korbman was a teacher and administrator in the Newark public schools for 34 years. He had also served as cantor at Congregation Adath Shalom in Morris Plains for 30 years and, earlier, at Congregation AABC in Irvington for 20 years. He earned a B.A. in education from Upsala College and an M.A. in education from Seton Hall University. He was a member of the Weequahic Lodge of the Free and Accepted Masons. Surviving are his wife, Barbara (neé Kopf); his sons, Jeffrey Korbman and his wife, Dana; Barry Korbman and his wife, Melinda; and Mark Jiorle and his wife, Amy; and his brother, Harry Korbman. He is also survived by six grandchildren and his sister-in-law, Mildred Korbman. Cantor Korbman was predeceased by his brother, Rabbi Meyer Korbman. Funeral services were held at Congregation Adath Shalom in Morris Plains.

Edward B. Bauers, Jr.

Edward B. Bauers, Jr., 90, of Livingston, died on October 23, 2017. Relatives and friends are invited for visitation on Thursday, October 26, from 4 to 8 p.m., in the Farmer Funeral Home, 45 Roseland Avenue, Roseland, New Jersey 07068. A Funeral Service will be offered on Friday, October 27, at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow at Hollywood Memorial Park in Union. Condolences and memories may be shared at farmerfuneral.com. Edward was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He lived there for three years, and then moved to Union, New Jersey, where he was raised. In 1966, he and his lovely wife, Bessie, moved and settled in Livingston, New Jersey. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Air Force. Prior to his retirement, he was a vice president at the former First Jersey National Bank/West in Livingston, New Jersey. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 201 and a Master Mason at Masonic Lodge 11.

Hold Funeral Service For Jay Goret, 80

Services will be held today, Thursday, October 26, at Temple Sharey Tefilo-Israel in South Orange at 1 p.m. for Jay Goret. The long-time resident of Livingston died on Tuesday, October 24. Mr. Goret was vice president of Prince Range, Inc., a family-owned retail appliance store, and earned his degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in New York. He is survived by his wife, Renee (neé Schultz); his three children, Judy (Steven) Feit, Nancy (Rob) Lee, and David (Jill) Goret; his sister, Edith Danzig; and his nine grandchildren. Arrangements are by Bernhei-Aper-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel in Livingston.

Pearl Miller (nee Salpeter) died on Tuesday, October 24 at the Inglemoor Rehabilitation and Care Center of Livingston. Graveside services will be held today, Thursday, October 26, at 12:30 p.m. at Wellwood Cemetery in Pinelawn, New York. Arrangements are by Menorah Chapels at Millburn. Mrs. Miller was born in Brooklyn, New York, and earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Brooklyn College. She lived in Newark and Union before moving to Livingston 57 years ago. She is survived by her husband, Albert Miller; her daughters, Sherri and Heidi Miller; and her sister-in-law, Lucille Salpeter. She was predeceased by her brother, Daniel Salpeter. The family has suggested that donations be made in Mrs. Miller’s memory to the American Cancer Society.

Service Held Oct. 21 For Anneliese Helbig

Anneliese Helbig, 86, died on October 14 at her home in Livingston. Born in Mulheim an der Ruhr, Germany, Mrs. Helbig came to the United States with her husband in 1955. They lived in Bloomfield before moving to Livingston in 1963. Mrs. Helbig was predeceased by her husband, Werner, and her son, Richard, and his wife, Christie. She is survived by her son, Frank, and his wife, Alison, and five grandchildren. A funeral service was held at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home in Livingston on October 21. The family has asked that donations in Mrs. Helbig’ s name be made to the American Red Cross, P.O. Box 37839, Boone, Iowa 50037-0839.
